Mid East Metals were defeated in their first match of the tournament at hands of Seven Districts by a margin of 32 runs.
Seven Districts batted first and lost Muhammad Sagheer for a duck early on in the innings. Post his dismissal, Shahzad Ali and Farman Ali revived the innings with their stand of 71 runs for the 3rd wicket. Farman Ali made 32 in 24 balls while Shahzad Ali scored 34 in 26 balls. Muhammad Haider in the middle order also smashed 30 in 20 balls before retiring himself out. The real impetus into the innings was imposed by Abdul Ghaffar who played a cameo of 36 not out in 15 balls to take the team’s total past the 180 run mark to 188 for 7 in 20 overs.
During the chase, Mannal Siddiqui and Faizan Awan started off very well and collected quick 59 runs for the 1st wicket partnership. Faizan Awan played a brilliant knock of 39 in 28 balls. Muhammad Nauman at number 3 also played a great innings of 37 in 16 balls. The upper order instilled a great hope in their team for a successful chase. However, the middle order failed to capitalise on it and lost wickets at wrong times. As a result, Mid East Metals were bowled out for 156 by the end of the 18th over, losing the match by 32 runs.
