Chad Johnson’s soccer bona fides have been tested and questioned numerous times in his adult life, and they’ll be tested again in a very public way as a member of Fox Sports’ coverage of the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup in Qatar.
Fox Sports, America’s English-language rights holder for 2022 FIFA World Cup broadcasting, announced Wednesday that Johnson would be a member of a four-person panel for “World Cup Tonight,” a show that will run during the tournament. Online Cricket Betting
Johnson will be joined by Kate Abdo, a journalist and broadcaster who has hosted past studio shows for World Cups and the UEFA Champions League, and Maurice Edu, a former U.S. men’s national team player.
Rotating guests will also join the show, per a news release from Fox Sports.
Johnson, a starter for more than 130 games as a Cincinnati Bengal who racked up more than 10,000 career receiving yards and 66 touchdowns for the franchise, is being billed as a “contributing soccer analyst” for the show. Live Cricket

To his credit, Johnson is a noted soccer enthusiast. In 2011, he had a four-day preseason trial with Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer. It wasn’t always attractive on the eyes but his athleticism was evident, as was some knowledge of the game.
Johnson’s also big on the FIFA video game, produced by EA Sports. A lot of people learn the names and faces of the world of soccer through the popular video game franchise.
Those items, combined with playing as a youth, are about the extent of Johnson’s background in the game, though.
Whether Johnson’s a member of this TV panel for entertainment purposes or high-brow soccer analysis remains to be seen.
Maybe that’s the point. Plenty will likely tune in to find out the answer to that question.
